Origin Arts Program at Iori

Iori manages the Origin Arts Program in Kyoto. In a former warehouse behind the Sujiyacho machiya (the ground floor of which is Iori's office and workspace), we have built a 64-mat wood-floor Arts Practice Hall (Dojo). It incorporates a full practice Noh stage, and is also adapted for martial arts.

Completed in February 2005, this is the only large scale multi-purpose Arts Dojo in Kyoto. Combined with the tea ceremony rooms in the neighboring Sujiyacho machiya, as well as spaces to practice calligraphy and other arts, Iori and Origin now offer a complete program in traditional Japanese arts.

At the same time, with six machiya to offer as places to stay, it's possible for visitors to live in a unique traditional environment in Kyoto at the same time as they experience the art program.
